I used to play Hollow Knight in the past year; then, I stopped playing it until very recently. Almost an entire year has passed, and one of my saved files, particularly a quite valuable one for me where I did a speedrun in less than five hours, has disappeared for no apparent reason. How can I recover it?

Here are three effective methods to recover lost saved files of Hollow Knight on Steam/PC. The first method, also the convenient one, is to recover lost saved files with EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard.
It's easy for users without any computer experience; to follow the three steps below:
Step 1. Download and open EaseUS software, and select the partition which stored your lost saved files.
Step 2. Click 'Scan' to find all lost files, and choose the files you need to recover.
Step 3. Click 'Recover' and save the lost saved files of Hollow Knight to safe locations.
The second method is to recover lost game data from Steam Cloud syncing/storage. Log in first, and then, a list will appear showing the content stored in your Steam Cloud, specifically for Hollow Knight with dates. If you can find the saved file you're looking for, download it, and put it right into the 'Team Cherry' folder.
