My Tesla got side swiped today and the camera as well. Would the camera on Tesla have recorded it? If not, how do I retrieve those recordings if I need them?

It depends. The point is, whether you parked or were driving when your car got side-swiped. If you were driving, the video was recorded, and the clip was saved when you encountered a hard brake and collision. But if your car is parked, the answer is no, for it only starts recording when you set the entry active.
If your camera is corrupted, you can recover the old recordings if your SD card or USB is intact and the data is not overwritten. Resorting to professional and reliable data recovery software would be a great choice. EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard for Mac is a trusted data recovery solution for users like you.
Do like this:
Step 1. You need first to carefully connect your SD card or USB flash drive to your Mac. Open your EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard for Mac and select the flash drive, and click "Search for lost files," and this software will start the scanning automatically.
Step 2. You can view all the files presented in the left panel in the scan results.
Step 3. Select the files you want to recover and click the "Recover" button. You need to save the recovered files to the USB drive itself to avoid data overwriting.
